Chilean Soccer and more

This week we have celebrated a birthday, continued with classes and afternoon activities, played and of course watched the Chile vs. Portugal game today. We had the opportunity to visit a Chilean school to watch the game and students were able to interact with children and teens. They were also able to join in the fun and experience the culture of watching soccer.

Santiago and more

To end the week, we visited the capital. Santiago is about 2 hours away, so we left early in the morning. We first visited el Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos. This museum was a look into Chile's dark history and helped contextualize some of the history they have learned. The museum does not allow pictures, so this is the one place from which you will not see pictures. We then had lunch at a park close to the museum. After lunch we headed downtown and saw La Moneda (the president's house) and walked to La Plaza de Armas (the main plaza in Santiago). To finish the day, we went to Cerro San Cristobal, where students were able to get a full view of the city. It was a great day and students enjoyed their time in Santiago. After checking in, we spent the afternoon at the beach which was 2 blocks away. After a fun afternoon at the beach, we headed back to our hotel and each group cooked something for a great dinner to finish the day. The following day we woke up very early and headed to Tololo, one of the most famous observatories. The view was incredible. After a tour and some time with the amazing view, we went to a restaurant where the food is cooked with solar energy. We spent the afternoon in the town of Vicuña. Students had time to walk around before dinner. After dinner we headed to Mamalluca, another observatory where students were able to see starts, Jupiter and Saturn. Because of the dark and not being allowed to use flash, we were not able to get pictures. For our last day, we woke up and headed to a Japan
