Last week

During our last week, we had the going away party and show. Students read poems, danced, sang, acted and enjoyed time with family and friends. What a great way to finish these amazing 6 weeks.

Weekend excursion

We have arrived from our weekend excursion to the north. We left Friday morning and headed to La Serena where our hotel was located. After a 6 hour bus ride, we arrived at the hotel. After checking in, we spent the afternoon at the beach which was 2 blocks away. After a fun afternoon at the beach, we headed back to our hotel and each group cooked something for a great dinner to finish the day. The following day we woke up very early and headed to Tololo, one of the most famous observatories. The view was incredible. After a tour and some time with the amazing view, we went to a restaurant where the food is cooked with solar energy. We spent the afternoon in the town of Vicuña. Students had time to walk around before dinner. After dinner we headed to Mamalluca, another observatory where students were able to see starts, Jupiter and Saturn. Bienvenidos

Welcome to the Viña del Mar 2017 Blog. We are so excited to work with our students this summer. This will be a great learning experience and we can't wait to show you the wonders that Chile, its people and its culture ha ve to offer. As we prepare for our departure, we will post some useful information. For now, let's meet our instructors: Lindsay Giacomino (Student Coordinator, Grammar Instructor) Lindsay is originally from California, but grew up in central Minnesota, where she received a double major in Linguistics and Spanish. She studied abroad in Chile and attended the Universidad de Concepción. After receiving her degree, she was a Fulbright Scholar, living and teaching in a colonial town in the Andes Mountains in Colombia. She is currently teaching Spanish at IU, where she is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics.
